A little about me

Hi, my name is Janeen and I like coffee. Actually, I love coffee. Hitting up a great coffee shop to listen to some live music or connect with friends over a delicious cup of coffee is heaven in my book! Speaking of books, I also love to read short stories and memoirs, and I have probably seen literally every documentary on Netflix. Sometimes the truth really is stranger than fiction, wouldn’t you agree? 🙂

I also like being my own boss. Doing what I want to do and how I want to do it allows me to tap into creative ways to help my clients to reach their ultimate goals.

I founded Creative Arts Therapy Source in 2022 to change the way that healing in therapy is achieved. I believe that incorporating the arts in psychotherapy is transformative and establishes long lasting change. The power of art lies in its ability to reveal deep and profound truths and to underscore what is expressed during talk therapy. My team and I specialize in some of the leading-edge approaches in therapy to effectively address Grief, Anxiety, and Depression.

I have over 12 years of clinical experience as a Creative Arts Therapist. Before opening my solo private practice in 2015, I have held Creative Arts Therapist positions at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Montefiore Medical Center and Metropolitan Jewish Hospice System.

I have co-authored an article on the subject of depression that was published in The International Journal of Psychological Research. Additionally, I provide professional development and supervision to creative arts therapists that are new to the field. 

I’ve Been There...

My passion for helping people who are grieving a significant loss stems from my personal life story. My involvement with grief goes way beyond my professional experience, as I have been stumbling down grief lane since I was 19 years old when I experienced my first significant loss. I fuse my personal experiences of struggle and growth with my education and training to fulfill my mission to help you heal, energize and explore your own unique goals.
