Our role as humans is to help others.
I became a therapist because I knew from early on that I could relate to those around me in a significant way. As a ninth grader, I overheard a counselor talking with a student. Listening to their conversation, I thought to myself, “I can do better than that,” and the rest is history.
My career in mental health has spanned over two decades. For most of that time, I worked as a director and art therapist at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. More recently, however, I have shifted my focus to private practice, providing psychotherapy to clients of all ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses.
I have helped clients navigate a wide range of challenges, but my primary specialties are working with adults experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. I particularly enjoy working with couples because witnessing their a-ha moments in real-time is truly inspiring.
My goal is to help clients feel safe, understood, and capable of coping with the tough stuff. As both an artist and a therapist, I aim to guide others in tapping into their creative sides—a side that all of us possess. I also use talk therapy to enhance the process of self-expression.
Through these approaches, clients can develop personalized tools to best address their concerns and reignite a connection with themselves and the world around them.
Family is the most important element of my life. Art is also a big priority, as I am an artist working with a wide range of mediums. I pride myself in having my artwork on display around the world, and recently, my work was included in The Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
If you struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or relationship challenges, art therapy can be the key to exploring, expressing, and processing your emotions. To find out more about how I can help or to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation, contact us.
